Yes, that’s right…. WE’RE BOTH PREGNANT!!!  Lindsay is due at the end of December and Heather is due at the end of March!!!

Both of our pregnancies are going very smoothly… aside from some pretty brutal morning sickness for Heather (fingers crossed it will be over soon!), everything else has been a breeze! Lindsay has full blown “baby fever” (mind you she’s had that since the day I met her!) and her nursery is almost complete, while Heather is just finishing her first trimester so hasn’t started going baby crazy just yet (but did cry in the change room at Old Navy last week upon finding maternity jeans that fit & look good)!

We talk to each other on the phone about 10 times a day as it is, and the fact that both of us are pregnant has been awesome in terms of us “getting” each other over the past couple of months. We’re so lucky to be going through this together as friends and colleagues!

It’s no coincidence that we’re both due outside of wedding season – we are both so grateful that we have careers that we absolutely love! Although we don’t get maternity leave like other moms, our schedules throughout the week can be flexible enough that we’ll get to spend lots of time adjusting to life with our new little ones and still get to work on the weekends doing what we’re so passionate about – wedding photography!

To clear up any questions & concerns right off the bat:
– We don’t anticipate our pregnancies affecting any of our booked weddings for the 2008/2009 season and have taken precautions to make sure that we have extra backup photographers in case of emergency for all upcoming weddings (we always have backups pregnant or not).

– Neither of us are taking maternity leave and will both be back shooting weddings between 6-8 weeks after delivery. We have discussed these plans with our doctor/midwife and they have approved of them. We have also discussed our plans and received advice from colleagues in the wedding photography industry who have had babies.

– Eric, Heather’s hubby will be going on paternity leave and Matt, Lindsay’s partner works from home and we both live close to our VERY excited parents… we’re very lucky to have supportive families who are lining up to babysit on Saturdays!

– We are both doing all we can to ensure the safety & health of both ourselves and our babies while working (extra snacks, 3rd assistants to carry gear when necessary) and are doing pre natal yoga to help us stay in shape.

We are both so excited to start these new chapters in our lives…. stay tuned for LOTS of baby pictures!!

– Heather & Lindsay, moms-to-be!!

ps. if this post doesn’t get any comments I’m officially convinced that NO ONE reads this blog anymore!!
