Jamie & Geoff

One of the most incredible things about being a wedding photographer is having a window into the biggest day in our couple’s lives. I love hearing about all of the personal touches that make a wedding day unique and personal such as Jamie’s dress made by her Grandma, desserts made by Geoff’s Mom and the rugby ball to show their shared passion for the sport. This wedding was full of colour and fun!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: fun, family, colourful, traditional, light-hearted

What are your favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Riding around on the school bus with our wedding party, getting to see all of our friends from out of town, and the traditional Slovak bridal dance we did (where I had to polka with everyone while the women made a circle to keep Geoff out, then he broke through and whisked me away).

Groom: Cooking breakfast for my groomsmen, horsing around with the rugby ball in between photos at Kariya Park, and watching Jamie be twirled around the dance floor while I got to hang back and relax during the Bridal Dance.

Best wedding related decision: Doing a Newfie jig as our first dance and changing into a shorter skirt and sneakers for the reception.

Favourite detail: The tower of Whoopee pies that Geoff’s mom made in place of a cake, complete with a rugby themed cake topper.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Don’t listen to what other people think your day should be like, do what you want to do the way you want to do it.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Hire a printer to do all of the invitations and programs. We got exactly what we wanted for the amount we wanted to spend, but there were so many headaches and it took so much time.

Best surprise of the day: We were on time or early for absolutely everything.

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?): 909 – It felt like I was dancing for forever before I finally got to dance with Geoff, but it was one of the most fun parts of the day and it got everybody up on the dance floor. (below)
