Danielle & Mike

Sunnybrook Estates Wedding

As wedding photographers, Lindsay and I often don’t get to attend our own friend’s weddings – which always makes both of us kind of sad, especially because we always worry about making sure they have a fantastic photographer! Danielle & Mike are good friends of Lindsay and when they set their wedding date she was already booked for another event on their big day. I however was available and was very excited to capture their day for them as any friend of Lindsay’s is a friend of mine! Danielle & Mike are a great couple and by the end of the day I felt like they were my friends too. Danielle’s smile is infectious and the way Mike looks at her just melts your heart! Lindsay managed to make it just in time for the party to start and danced the night away (and managed to get some fun reception photos)!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: intimate, romantic & simple

What are your favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: seeing Mike at the end of the aisle, the speeches, the dance floor, and the amazing after party hosted by our friends!
Groom: seeing Danielle in her dress for the first time and the band.

Best wedding related decision: Hiring vendors that were amazingly well fit to our personalities. From the photographer & videographer, to the florist, the venue and our amazing band, we couldn’t have asked for more from any of them. We spent little time researching but chose based on our first impression of the people in charge and we weren’t disappointed!

Favourite detail: We brought framed photos to the venue of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days. It was a really great way to have them present since so many of them are no longer with us.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Make your own decisions. There was nothing about the day that we didn’t choose ourselves so we had no regrets or moments of “we wished we had of..” Every aspect of the day was exactly what we wanted our wedding to be…. and our videographer captured it all so we can relive it even though it’s over.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? No. It was a perfect day smile

Best surprise of the day: When our best man got up and sang ‘When I’m 64″ by The Beatles as the finale of his speech. It was such a great moment that the whole room was singing along to.

Anything else you’d like to add: Heather and Nadia did an amazing job! They corralled our large families for group photos with ease, and they got so many amazing candid shots of our friends and family enjoying the day. We look back at the photos and can feel what it was like to be there. Thank you SO much for your incredible talent and creativity.

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?): Such a tough decision! I guess it would have to be the shot taken of us in the middle of the Esplanade, in front of the tour bus! Heather made us run out into the street and kiss and as we did everyone on the bus started cheering. Such a great moment! (below on the left)
