Samantha & Matthew

{St. Clement of Orchid Macedonian Church Toronto Ontario Wedding Photography}

What a party this wedding was!!!  Sam & Matt are good friends of our lovely office manager/portrait associate Niki (who was a bridesmaid for their big day). I had such a blast at their crazy fun Macedonian celebration! These two are total naturals in front of the camera – Sam was so glamorous! Congrats guys – it was an amazing day!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: 1950’s, vintage, classic, old Hollywood

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: right after the ceremony driving to the photo site and having that one on one time in the car together as husband and wife. Having spent the night apart, the anticipation to see Matt was almost unbearable, at the ceremony there was so much to take in and it all went by so fast. Once we got into the car and had some alone time, we looked at each other, smiled, then had our first toast as husband and wife.

Groom: Hands down my favourite moment was the first time I saw Samantha that day. All of the build up, all of the anticipation, made it seem like it couldn’t live up to the expectations. But when I finally got a chance to see her, she was so beautiful, so stunning. I couldn’t stop grinning like a fool. I will always and forever, remember that specific moment.

Best wedding related decision: renting a photo booth. We were debating it right up until a month before the wedding. We are so happy that we decided to go for it, it was a huge hit with the guests. It was fun seeing everyone from the small kids to the grandparents putting on silly hats and oversized glasses to take pictures. The guest were able to take a strip home with them and leave one with the guestbook. We are going to make a collage and ave the photo strips framed. They are priceless.

Favourite detail: we loved our cake. We saw a picture of about 3 yrs ago when i was researching a cake to make for my friends bridal shower. We saw it and loved the simplicity and uniqueness of it. Matt and i weren’t even engaged at the time but i saved the picture and knew that when that time comes, this would be THE cake.

Advice for future brides & grooms: let the day just be, it will be perfect. You may worry about every single thing heading up to the wedding day from the dress fitting just right to the napkin colors being placed on the tables, but when the day actually arrives you are so in the moment and in such high sprits that you dont noticed the little things missed until the day is over, and then did it really matter? You laugh about all the little flaws the next day.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? make sure the length of my wedding dress was “danceable”. The whole night i was hiking up my dress so i wouldn’t trip on it, but hey, it was more of a reason to show off my gorgeous Valentino shoes!

Best surprise of the day: when we were at the photo shoot destination (distillery district) and the cutest Bulldog puppy was walking by, Matt and I LOVE Bulldogs. The owner let us borrow him for a few shots and they are the cutest ever. He definitely stole the show for those 5 minutes.

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?): this is the hardest question! How do you possibly pick ONE out of 900+?! If I must, one of our favorites would have to be #473. The picture is so magical, beautiful and just captured the entire them and feel of the wedding and that moment. I remember thinking to myself while taking these pictures, “these are going to be epic!”. It blows my mind to think that we were at Union Station with hundreds of people coming from everywhere and yet you could never tell, it looks like it’s just Matt and myself in a castle all to ourselves. Magic.

Anything else you’d like to add: Everyone that has seen our wedding photos have been so amazed by them, it’s been a blast having people looking through them and re-living that day. We hear a lot of, “this is my favorite….oh, no, THIS is my favorite”. So many of our friends and family have said that these are the best wedding photos that they have ever seen….and coming from Matt enormous European family, that’s out of A LOT of pictures throughout the years. What a compliment!
