Nita + Dhivakar

What can I say about Indian weddings… I just love photographing them! Nita and Dhivakar wanted a destination type feeling to their wedding, classic and unique is what I would call it! I absolutely loved their beautiful outdoor Hindu ceremony at the beautiful Millcroft Inn, followed by the reception at the Hockley Valley Resort. The one thing that stood out to me was how amazing their outdoor ceremony came together, giving me some great ideas for my own wedding inspiration. There was rain threatening us that morning and the timing just worked out in our favour as the rain came after ceremony and photo session! The beautiful forest setting at The Millcroft Inn was pretty spectacular and suited the day so well!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Springtime, new beginnings

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: I think my favourite memory was relaxing after the hustle and bustle of planning, and enjoying the day. The most magical part of the day for me was walking down the aisle. The combination of my song, the weather, the beautiful venue, seeing all of the loved ones around supporting us and sharing our day, and knowing that my husband was waiting at the alter for me, came together in one very magical moment.
Groom: If I had to pin point a moment, it would be the entrance of my beautiful bride. There are a lot of colours, sounds which make up an outdoor Indian Wedding. However, none compete with your bride!

Best wedding related decision: We made a list before starting the wedding with things that were important to us, and things that we were willing to sacrifice in our planning. This made it easier to allocate funds during the planning. I also think that it was important not to stress the small details on the day of the wedding. It is very easy to get wrapped up in last minute changes, but the day goes by so fast, and if you aren’t present, it is easy to miss it. Lastly, one of the best decisions that I made was having Niki photograph our wedding. We will look back on these pictures for years to come, and will be reminded of how special the day was. She captured every moment beautifully!

Favourite detail: There are so many details that I loved, it is difficult to narrow it down to just one. If I were to chose a couple, I absolutely loved the venue for the wedding. I fell in love with the wedding garden as soon as I saw it. The food at both venues was out of this world, absolutely amazing. I also loved the decoration and centrepieces at the reception. I had spent a lot of time coming up with ideas, and growing grass in pots, and I had amazing friends who I could explain my vision to, and they were able to execute it perfectly!

Advice for future brides & grooms: A friend told me, the night before my wedding, to take mental snapshots of the day, with memories that you want to cherish. This was probably the best advise that I got, the day went by so fast, but there were moments throughout the day that I will remember for the rest of my life. It is cliche, but don’t stress over the small things. There is a lot of planning, but the day goes by so quickly that all of those small details will not be what you look back on and remember.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? I honestly don’t think that I would have changed anything — I would have made it 5 degrees warmer, but unfortunately I can’t control the weather!

Best surprise of the day: The best surprise for me was probably the day after the wedding. It was my birthday, and my husband arranged a breakfast birthday celebration for me with the guests who were staying at the hotel with us.
