Melissa & Phil

{Trinity Chapel London Ontario Wedding Photography}

From the first moment I met them, I knew I was going to have a wonderful time photographing Melissa & Phil on their wedding day! They were married at a beautiful little chapel (Trinity Chapel) in Ailsa Craig that was the perfect setting for a wedding taking place on crisp fall day. After their ceremony, we went to the Coldstream Conservation area (also where we did their engagement photos) for bride, groom & wedding party photos. Despite it being a cold, damp day the whole wedding party was sooo cooperative – loved them! Their reception was at one of my favorite spots, Windermere Manor – great atmosphere, amazing food, emotional speeches, and a great party crowd (Phil’s east coast relatives, who are from the same little town my dad grew up in brought back memories of my own wedding!!) made for an awesome night!

Alison, assistant extraordinaire definitely went above and beyond during this shoot for me… in the photo below where the couple are sitting on the river bank, Alison is behind the big tree with NO SHOES on (for a better grip) holding a flash while I’m shooting from a bridge on the other side! Also, I must give kudos to Melissa’s cousin & fellow wedding photographer Garrett Elliott for sharing some of his “secret ninja photo skills” with me… we met at a workshop a few years ago and he promised to show me some off camera flash techniques. I finally was able to take him up on the offer and got some great results – thanks Garrett!

Holy gorgeous!! A beautiful bride & perfect flowers from Designs in Bloom!

Alison is hiding behind that big tree right on the bank!

Melissa spent months posing their cats with table numbers – love it!

The light in the background here is just a lucky shot where a guest’s flash went off…

and the effect is recreated here with Garrett’s lighting tips!
