Katie + Sidney

{St. Joseph's Catholic Church London Ontario Wedding Photography}

Katie & Sidney’s wedding was one of the most heartfelt and emotional wedding days I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. This couple is the real deal – with each other through thick and thin, a true love story. Their relationship is an inspiration and their wedding was an absolute joy to be a part of! On the drive home from Chatham, there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky which I thought was so fitting for their day. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Elegant, classy, fun family affair

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day? Bride: Walking down the aisle at the church to see his face. I was so focused on finding his face I held onto my Dad so tightly I thought I might break his arm. I broke down halfway down the aisle in tears. He looked so handsome in his firefighter uniform. I had been so surpisingly calm all morning that my emotions became overwhelming and I finally broke down. I was just so so excited that we were finally getting married and the day was here.

Best wedding related decision: We have three! Hiring Heather for our Photos, getting a videographer and getting married in the church that both of our parents were married in, we were baptized in and (the bride’s) grandparent’s were married in. It had such a special meaning to us to carry on the tradition.

Favourite detail: Unfortunately Sidney’s father is no longer with us and when he had passed he had made and handed out green bracelets (similar to the Livestrong bands) with Força which means strength in Portuguese in honour of him. We gave each of our guests these bracelets so that he could be there with us that night and asked all of our guests to wear them. It brought tears to my eyes seeing a sea of green everywhere that I turned. Everyone was wearing a bracelet. We felt so much love in the room that night.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Don’t forget to stop and say I love you. Your day will go by so fast, but remember that it is important to stop and cherish the small moments; the smiles, the tears and sneak as many kisses as you can! This day is about the two of you and the love that you share, no one will remember if you don’t have a hashtag. Don’t let the things leading up to the wedding drag you down. Your big day will be the highlight, focus on getting to the day because believe me it is definitely worth it.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Absolutely not. We just wanted to be married. We were surrounded by our loved ones and had a beautiful day. I got to marry my best friend and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Best surprise of the day: Our family dog Duke wanted to be in the action all day long. When we were doing family pictures on the farm he tried jumping in on all of the pictures. He even got on the limo to go to the church with us!

Anything else you’d like to add: I cannot thank Heather enough for everything that she did for us on our day. She made sure that we didn’t have to worry about anything and that day and was so kind and compassionate. With so many emotions and overwhelming feelings throughout the day, it was so nice to have her there and her creative lens to capture all of the special moments between everyone.
