Sandra & Darren - engagement session - May 25th, 2008

When I first met with Sandra at her condo to discuss her wedding day plans, I knew I was going to have a great time photographing her wedding. The walls in her place are covered with large b&w prints of iconic romantic pictures by the likes of Robert Doisneau who took this famous kissing photo:

For Sandra and Darren’s engagement session, the obvious location was Union Station to create some timeless images of their very own!! I hadn’t met Darren before but we hit it off right away - he was such a ham for the camera so we did some fun shots too.

Jenne & Jayson - engagement session - May 25th, 2008

I met with Jenne and Jayson in the Beaches for their engagement photos. After taking a walk down to the water, I realized it was just plain sunny out! Jenne and Jayson had mentioned that they were going to pick up their wedding bands in the Distillery District after our shoot, so I suggested we head over there for the rest of their photos! I love shooting at the Distillery as there is always something fun going on. This time, there happened to be an arts and crafts show with a live band!

Stay tuned for Jenne and Jayson’s wedding photos, to be posted very soon!

Dawn & Dave - May 24th, 2008

This was another very special wedding for me to photograph…. I photographed Dave’s sister Jenn’s wedding to Ian back in August 2005. When their mom contacted me to let me know that Dave was getting married and they wanted me to photograph it, I was so excited!! Dawn and Dave’s wedding took place at the beautiful Glenerin Inn in Mississauga, a spot I’ve been wanting to shoot at and and wasn’t disappointed! From the moment I met Dave & his family in 2005 it was obvious that they were a fun loving bunch who all care for each other very much - Dawn and her family seem like the absolutely perfect match! It’s always so nice to see not only a couple who are such a great match but two families that are as well!

- Heather

Dawn’s sister’s daughter & Dave’s sister’s daughter win for cutest flower girls EVER!

I took a similar shot of Jenn & her bridesmaids so thought I’d try to recreate it for Dawn

mini burgers are always a big hit!

It was great to see Jenn & Ian again and meet Gabby their adorable daughter!

There was a bit of a panic earlier in the day when the song Dawn and her dad were dancing to couldn’t be found… luckily it was, and as soon as they started dancing I understood why they had to have their perfect song!

This is why I love Dave’s family - this is Dave’s mom Val along with her mom and sisters… this is their special photo face, we did the same shot at Jenn’s wedding and apparently it’s hanging up in Val’s parents hallway!!

Robin & Dan - May 24th, 2008

Robin and Dan booked us over the phone as they were planning their wedding from out of town. We actually met for the first time on their wedding day! They are such a sweet couple that it felt as though I had known them for years.

After some getting ready photos in and around the hotel, we made our way to Knox College Chapel for the ceremony. I love this location and all the stunning architecture it has to offer.

The reception was held at Panorama on the 51st floor of the Manulife centre. I had been here once previously and knew that it would make an awesome reception venue. The view of the entire city is quite a backdrop for a wedding!!

Cara & Ben - engagement session - May 20th, 2008

Cara & Ben booked me to shoot their wedding, but unfortunately we couldn’t match our schedules for me to do their engagment photos…. instead they got the best of both worlds and met with Lindsay to do the engagement photos! Lindsay met the couple at Sunnyside Pavillion which is a great location that we always seem to forget about. After a quick outfit change, they went down to the beach and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine with a great view of the Toronto skyline! I’m jealous I wasn’t there!

Natasha & Austen - May 18th, 2008

It was an honour to be asked to photograph Natasha & Austen’s wedding day - Tasha and I met while I was in my first year at Ryerson (she was in her second) and worked together at Black’s while we were in school. Natasha has always been a huge supporter of my photography - wedding & otherwise and it was so special for me to be a part of her wedding day when it FINALLY arrived (I had been waiting anxiously for their engagement for many years!!). I actually did a pre-engagement engagement shoot of them 5 or 6 years ago when I was building my portfolio (you can still see some photos from that session on my website).

Their wedding was a true DIY event - Natasha & Austen put so many personal touches into their wedding day which made it all the more special and very “them”. She even made her own (amazing) wedding dress!! The whole day just felt like such a good fit, nothing contrived - which is exactly how Natasha & Austen are as a couple and how a wedding day should feel! For their photo session, we took the nostalgic route and went to the Ryerson campus and also to the restaurant where they first met.

I can’t say much more without getting too emotional…. a HUGE congrats to Natasha & Austen, I was so happy to be able to capture your wedding day for you - thank you for having me be a part of it!

- Heather

My assistant Shannon took this great shot of Tasha’s shoes

Natasha’s younger brother helped Austen do up his tie… awwww

The couple seeing each other for the first time

Tasha & Austen met each other while working at Zyng!

Not sure if it was planned or not, but Austen’s dance with his mom ended up being more of an “interpretive” dance than a traditional one!

Winnie & David - May 17th, 2008

Winnie and David had an absolutely picture perfect day!! Winnie & David are as Winnie puts it, “silly in love”, the adorable interaction between the two of them combined with everything from Winnie’s aquamarine shoes, her bridesmaids Vera Wang dresses, beautiful seasonal bouquets and some amazing photo locations gave us inspiration around every corner! We had originally just picked High Park as a location, but a lightbulb went off in my head knowing Keele subway station (just across the street from High Park) has some really funky graffiti that would suit their colours perfectly. I’m so glad they were up for adding another location - they’re some of my favorite photos of our season so far! After our shoot at the subway, we still had time to do some fun photos in High Park on the playground & with an ice cream truck - absolutely perfect!!

Gina & Remi - May 17th, 2008

When I arrived at Gina’s parents’ house on the day of the wedding, I was greeted by Gina’s very friendly Dad. After we were served delicious coffee and dessert, we began taking photos!

I was absolutely in LOVE with Gina’s wedding dress. She looked stunning! This was only the first of many beautiful details to come. The pink and brown theme was carried through to the wedding party and reception.

Gina and Remi had their ceremony at Trinity College Chapel at UofT. This is a beautiful church, but as always, photographers are only allowed to very quietly sneak photos without flash!

After taking photos at UofT, we headed over to Atlantis for a few more photos before the reception began. The martini themed decor looked incredible!

- Lindsay

I love catching little glances during the ceremony!

This is one of my favorite shots! Gina looks like she is on a bridal runway!

No martini theme is complete without the drink luge!

Laura & Brad - engagement session - May 16th, 2008

I met Laura & Brad at the Distillery District to discuss their wedding day plans, right after we had signed contrat we did their engagement photos! Brad was a little distracted due to a long day at work and a trip out of the country the next day… some food & a pint of beer did the trick to put him in good spirits for the photos and I used that as an opportunity to get some great candid shots. Photos from their beautiful Niagara on the Lake wedding just 6 weeks later will be posted soon!
