Carly & Adam
{Sarnia Ontario Wedding Photography}

Carly is the cousin of one of my best friends Krista, who was also the maid of honor! I have know Carly for a long time, so photographing this moment for her was such a pleasure! I loved that we visited the spots that meant the most to Adam & Carly throughout their relationship, especially the fry truck, which is where they had their first date! I stayed til the very end and danced the night away with my friends and then got to capture one last photo of Adam & Carly walking away to their hotel at 1am!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less:  Sweet, Simple, Romantic

What are your favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: When Adam forgot what to reply during our vows. We all had a good laugh and it set the tone for the rest of the day.
Groom: Seeing Carly for the first time.

Best wedding related decision: Having the ceremony outside. The summer had been pretty miserable up until that day. It was beautiful!

Favourite detail: Our cake topper! Adam had a blog called the ugly pony when we first started dating. The caketopper's groom had a horsehead, like the blog mascot, and the bride had a unicorn head.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Remember to laugh!!! And tell your wedding party to give you reminders throughout the day to take it all in.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Not a single thing.

Best surprise of the day: When a friend of mine brought our dog, Daisy, to the ceremony for pictures! She's an important part of our family.

Ferris and Dave were married on a beautiful summer day at Forest City National Golf Club. They had lots of personalized touches for their tent reception and had their first dance under the open sky! It was a beautiful day!

Lara + Neil
{Idlewyld Inn Wedding Photography}

Perhaps one of the sweetest weddings we've had the pleasure of photographing - small in numbers, big in LOVE. Lara & Neil shared their vows in an intimate ceremony with just their immediate families on a weekday in September (more weekday weddings please!). I have photographed many of Lara's friend's weddings and it was so exciting that it was finally her turn! We were sad that we couldn't make it to their Toronto reception, but small world that it is, found out one of our photographer friends was attending and got him to set up a sneaky surprise (photos from this wedding day framed at their reception) a few days later! Congrats Lara & Neil, we will always remember your sweet wedding day and how lucky we were to be a part of it!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Relaxed weekday garden wedding.

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Having a relaxed breakfast at the Idlewyld together on our wedding day. How much my heart was pounding before seeing Neil in his wedding attire for the first time. Taking a moment by ourselves in the Civic Gardens after the ceremony and before we drove back to the Idlewyld for dinner.
Groom: The beautiful, sunny day. Killing time and eating room service before the big moment. When my family arrived and we put on our flowers. Debating whether to scare Lara during our first look. Choosing not to (at the last minute) and just soaking in her beautiful dress! The look of forgiveness in Lara's eyes when we realized I forgot the marriage license at the hotel! The beautiful small ceremony. Driving away with beer cans on the car. My first dinner as a married man at the Idlewyld.

Best wedding related decision:
Bride: Getting married on a Thursday! Having two wedding events (the Thursday legal ceremony and a party with our friends and family in Toronto on Saturday) allowed us to spread out the festivities and celebrate our marriage the way we wanted to.
Groom: Overall, asking Lara to marry me was a pretty great decision. On the day, wearing funky socks, I guess.

Favourite detail:
Bride: My dress was made by my Gramma. It was originally my Mum's wedding dress in the 1970s (and had large cape-like sleeves and a bigger skirt) and I had it altered to update it. My Gramma passed away last year, so it was significant to wear something she had put love and energy into.
Groom: The park / gazebo turned out to be a perfect place to get married. We loved that some older folks sat and watched from a bench and we felt lucky to have such a beautiful day.

Advice for future brides & grooms:
Bride: Make decisions that are meaningful to you instead of the way it's "supposed" to be.
Groom: I second Lara here. Tradition shmadition. Do what feels like 'you' and you can't go wrong.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again:
Bride: I would eat less at dinner so I could have more room for champagne after our families went home.
Groom: not a thing.

Best surprise of the day:
Bride: The flowers! They were more wonderful than I had imagined. I had loved the idea of having anemones but our florist Tania told me she didn't know if she would be able to get them. Then on the day she surprised us with Neil's anemone bout, and there were some in my bouquet as well. And my flower crown was a last minute-ish decision which Tania whipped up and it was so perfect. She is such a talent.
Groom: I wasn't nervous. It was peaceful and happy, through and through.

Jacquie + Brad
{Stratford Ontario Wedding Photography}

We had an amazing day with Jacquie & Brad documenting their celebration! Jacquie & Brad planned most of the details for their wedding while living in China and they did an amazing job! We had a great time with their fun wedding party and did their photos around the Stratford area (what an adorable town!) The ceremony & reception took place at Jacquie’s moms home in New Hamburg, and everything looked beautiful. I loved the ceremony set up at the front of the house - it was perfect!  They even managed to arrange for Brad’s old Volkswagen beetle to make an appearance - this car held a huge significance to the couple as they travelled the world. Congrats to the lovely couple!

Dominique + Chris
{ElmHurst Inn Wedding Photography}

MAGICAL! There is no better way to describe Dominique and Chris's incredible wedding! When I first sat down with this newly engaged couple and their wedding planners from Blissful Bookings and they described their vision for an enchanted forest fairytale wedding I knew I HAD to be a part of it! It was truly an honour to be a part of this perfet day, and I can't wait to capture more happy memories for this wonderful couple in the years to come!

- Heather

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: A magical, forest, enchanted, fairytale!

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: "THE ENTIRE DAY! Seeing my groom for the first time, my Dad's speech, and feeling like a fairy princess"
Groom: "Seeing my bride walk down the aisle"

Best wedding related decision: Hiring HRM Photography - hands down the best/smartest money we spent on our wedding. That, and choosing to have a smaller- intimate family affair.

Favourite detail: Having both my Mom and Dad walk me down the aisle, as well as having the Groom's Grandfather have a speaking part in the ceremony.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Stay firm in your priorities, take your time, enjoy the process, and hire professionals!!! Photographer, Venue, and Wedding Planners... worth every, (affordable), penny!

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? We wouldn't change a thing...only wish the day lasted longer.

Best surprise of the day: Seeing my Groom cry when I came down the aisle, even though he SWORE he probably wouldn't shed a tear, "not to get my hopes up" because he isn't an emotional guy...

Anything else you'd like to add: Choose to surround yourself with people who are not only at your wedding to do a job, but genuinely love what they do and make you feel like they are there because they love you and want you to feel like the most special couple in the world. Everyone, including the team from Elm Hurst, our Photographers, our Wedding Planners, the hair and makeup team from Alycat, our florist/decorator Russell, our MC/DJ... all of them made us feel extremely cared for.

Favorite wedding picture (and why): We literally could not pick a favourite picture, BUT, an image we were truly in awe of, was the absolutely magical evening, family-group, sparkler shot!!! you NAILED it!

Best groom present EVER!

While we were posing the couple in this beautiful forest setting, a FREAKIN' DRAGONFLY just happened to land on Dominique's flower crown!! MAGIC!
